General Surgeon's Examination
A general surgeon's examination includes an assessment of complaints that require a surgical opinion, an examination of changes in the skin and subcutaneous tissue, an assessment of a hernia and advice on further treatment.
At the Poliklinika Joković, the patient receives a clear plan of further steps, with the possibility of referral to additional diagnostics when necessary.
When to contact the surgeon: A surgical examination is important when there is pain, swelling, redness, a growth, a slow-healing wound, or a suspected hernia/bruch.
If the symptoms appear suddenly, worsen quickly or are accompanied by high temperature, severe pain or bleeding, the patient should contact a doctor without delay.
The most common reasons for examination and interventions
The clinical examination begins with a detailed interview and a careful examination of the region for which the patient is presenting. Based on the findings, the surgeon suggests therapy, additional diagnostics or minor outpatient intervention.
The most common reasons for a examination:
- The appearance of bulges on the abdomen or groin, with suspicion of a hernia/bruch
- Painful or inflamed changes on the skin and subcutaneous tissue
- Abscesses, ingrown hairs, atheromas and lipomas
- Wounds that heal slowly or require surgical treatment
- Control examination after previous surgical interventions
Outpatient interventions:
- Minor surgical interventions: Treatment of wounds and removal of minor changes on the skin and subcutaneous tissue.
- Incisions and drainages: Management of selected inflammatory processes according to the surgeon's assessment.
- Laser operation of hemorrhoids: Modern treatment of hemorrhoids with less postoperative discomfort and faster recovery compared to classical methods.
A clear plan for further treatment
After the examination, the patient receives an explanation of the findings, a recommendation for therapy and an assessment of whether additional diagnostics or intervention is needed. The goal is to look at every problem professionally, without unnecessary delay and with a realistic treatment plan.
