Full professor. Born on May 4, 1955 in Kragujevac. Over 38 years of experience in nuclear medicine and oncology, a pioneer in the introduction of modern radionuclide therapies in Serbia.

Work experience and expertise

Prof. Dr Matović has 38 years of work experience as a specialist in nuclear medicine in the field of in-vivo and in-vitro diagnostics and radionuclide therapy of benign thyroid gland diseases and post-therapy clinical monitoring of these patients.

Special interests and achievements are related to radionuclide therapy in the field of nuclear oncology:

  • Radioiodine therapy of differentiated thyroid cancers and post-therapy clinical follow-up of patients (17 years of experience).
  • Radionuclide therapy of neuroendocrine tumors (PRRT) using 90Y/177Lu-DOTA(TATE/TOC) (15 years of experience). He was the first to introduce this method into clinical practice in Serbia and this part of Europe in 2008.
  • Treatment of metastatic prostate cancer (mCRPC) using 177-Lu-PSMA. In 2023, he was the first in Serbia to apply this therapy, as well as 99mTc-PSMA for the diagnosis of these tumors.

  • Physical examination.
  • Ultrasound examination of the neck with a detailed evaluation of the status of the thyroid gland and neck lymph nodes (if needed).

  • Since 2007 - Expert in radiopharmaceuticals, Agency for Medicines of the Republic of Serbia.
  • 1999–2005. - Vice-dean for teaching, scientific research and postgraduate studies in several mandates.

He has published over 250 publications, of which over 40 works in scientific journals on the Thomson-Reuters list. He is a member of the editorial board and a reviewer in several domestic and international journals (Serbian Journal of Experimental and Clinical Research, Hellenic Journal of Nuclear Medicine, Telemedicine and e_Health, etc.). He actively participated as a manager and researcher in numerous projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Republic of Serbia from 1995 until today.

  • 2019. - Award "Academician Vladimir Bošnjaković" for life's work (Association of Nuclear Medicine of Serbia).
  • 2017. – Second Prize for paper on whole body scintigrams fusion, 4th International Medical Olympiad, Thessaloniki, Greece.
  • 2015. – First Prize "For reducing radiation in the environment of patients treated with high doses of radionuclides", 3rd International Medical Olympiad, Thessaloniki, Greece.
  • 2010. - "Milovan Antić" award for the best work published in foreign journals (Association of Nuclear Medicine of Serbia).
