A neurological examination is routine and completely painless. It is based on a detailed interview with the patient (anamnesis) and a specific examination that examines reflexes, muscle strength, sense of touch, balance and movement coordination.

In order to make an accurate diagnosis, after the basic clinical examination, the neurologist may refer you to additional, specific tests. As part of prevention and diagnostics, it is of key importance ultrasound examination (Doppler) of blood vessels of the neck, which accurately assesses blood flow to the brain and stroke risk.
In addition to Doppler, advanced diagnostics often include electroencephalography (EEG) to examine the brain's electrical activity, electromyoneurography (EMNG) to examine nerve and muscle function, as well as radiological imaging such as a scanner (CT) or magnetic resonance (MR) of the head and spine.
